Parliamentary elections of the Republic of Armenia, 7 June 2026

Yerevan, 8 June 2026

The European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE), the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC), the International Society for Fair Elections and Democracy (ISFED, Georgia), the European Dialogue and Democracy Association (EDDA Norway), Promo-LEX Association (Moldova), and the International Partnership for Human Rights (IPHR) jointly cooperated with Armenian citizen election observers during the parliamentary elections of the Republic of Armenia held on 7 June 2026.

Democratic backsliding, foreign interference, and substantial funding cuts for genuine democracy support make European citizen cooperation for free and fair elections in the Caucasus region even more important.

Over 40 International observers joined the short-term observation teams of our Armenian partner organisation, the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly – Vanadzor (HCAV), on election day and were accredited by the Central Election Commission of Armenia in accordance with the applicable procedures.

The elections took place amid geopolitical tension, political polarisation, and concerted efforts to discredit contestants and democratic institutions in the country. Threats against our Armenian partner organisation HCAV in the run-up to election day deserve our strongest condemnation. They did not impede Armenian citizens from exercising their right to freely participate in election observation on election day.

The participating organisations congratulate their Armenian partners and Armenian society on the peaceful conduct of the elections.

The international organisations wish to express their appreciation and gratitude to our Armenian colleagues and the local election observers with whom we had the honor to team up for their dedicated work, their cooperation, and support. Also, we express our appreciation to the electoral authorities, the local electoral commission members, and to voters and other interlocutors whom we encountered during the observation process.

We are very grateful to Commit Global for providing us with the Vote Monitor App, part of the Infrastructure for Good developed by Commit Global.
