The European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE) is pleased to invite you to the webinar “After the Vote: FIMI Tactics and Their Reach in Moldova and Armenia” on 6 July at 14:30 CET.

Following elections in both Moldova (2025) and Armenia (2026), this session assesses the foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) campaigns that targeted both votes and their actual impact.

We will examine the tactics used: fabricated media reports, coordinated inauthentic behaviour, vote buying, personal attacks on candidates and officials, and narratives designed to sow fear or distrust. We will discuss why similar methods appear to have gained different levels of traction in each country, and what that tells us about the role of local media, diaspora audiences, and domestic political conditions, and what the EU and other European countries can learn from these examples for their own election integrity.

Key questions include:

  • Which tactics were used across both countries, and have they affected voter choices, confidence in the process, or the wider political debate?
  • How should we understand FIMI as part of broader influence efforts alongside vote-buying, illegal financing, cyberattacks, and external pressure?
  • What worked in identifying and countering these campaigns? What lessons can election authorities, journalists, and civil society in other European countries draw for their own future elections?

This session concludes our three-part series on the joint challenges of Moldova and Armenia in holding elections under geopolitical pressure.
