Webinar: Georgia’s Countdown to E-Day: Campaign Peaks and Pitfalls | 10 OCT 2024 | 3 PM CET

(October 9, 2024)

>>>

The European Platform for Democratic Elections (EPDE) is pleased to invite to our second webinar on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia.

With less than three weeks until Georgia’s pivotal parliamentary elections, this webinar aims to explore the critical issues affecting the nation’s democratic development and European integration.

The electoral campaign is marked by increasing polarization and a deteriorating media landscape, alongside significant changes to the electoral code that pose challenges for domestic election observers. Many of these observers face targeted discreditation campaigns, and indications of malign interference through anonymous online networks raise concerns of election meddling.

The webinar will provide deeper understanding of the key issues surrounding the 2024 Parliamentary Elections in Georgia.

David Aprasidze (Ilia State University) will discuss the context of electoral campaigns in the final weeks before the elections, Levan Natroshvili (ISFED) will present key findings from the latest pre-election observation phase, and Salome Alania (Friedrich Ebert Foundation) will introduce “GeoCompass,” a non-partisan digital tool to help voters understand political party positions.
