At this conference the ALDE Group is going to present and discuss its “Blueprint for an EU Strategy towards Russia”, which outlines how a more active EU should engage to get Moscow to respect international law and also its human rights obligations laid down in the Russian Constitution. The paper clearly defines the conditionality of engagement with the Russian Federation (including with regard to territorial integrity of Ukraine) and also the capabilities the EU needs to develop to be equipped to deal with the increasingly assertive Russia. The goal of the strategy is to contribute to strengthening the European security architecture and also to support the plurality of Russian civil society.
