EPDE Senior Program Officer Adam Busuleanu met with Cosmin Bârzan, president of the Civic Resource Centre, to discuss EPDE’s mission and the growing challenges facing election observation in Europe. Their conversation explored the increasing impact of online voting and social media manipulation on electoral integrity. Adam emphasized the shrinking space for civil society in places like Russia, Belarus, and Azerbaijan, where election observers face imprisonment. He also highlighted the need of election monitoring to evolve into expert-driven hubs capable of addressing new technological risks and underscored EPDE’s commitment to solidarity, reform, and defending democratic processes across the continent.

The Centrul pentru Resurse Civice (Civic Resource Centre) is a Romanian non-governmental organization (NGO). The Civic Resource Centre aims to support, promote and develop civic awareness and initiatives, in the spirit of participatory democracy, at individual, community and regional level.
